The Clear Sky story is a prequel to SoC, but not just that, the entire game's layout/design is NOT what you would expect from a STALKER game, it's much different to SoC and CoP so I recommend playing SoC and then CoP for what STALKER is known for and they both have relating stories and then play Clear Sky which is a prequel to SoC and its design is a lot different, not what you would expect from a STALKER game after playing the other two. However the reason I recommend the above is for two reasons. The release dates are actually SoC -> Clear Sky -> CoP. There is a big texture pack for it called Remake if you do want better: It still looks graphically fine (it's a 2009 game).
Community Bug Fixes (must-have, fixes what patches didn't): įor Call of Pripyat you don't need much mods unless you want to modify the gameplay like the MISERY mod. If you don't get the Steam version these are for you - Official Patches (though I think Steam version comes with 1.0006 which is the latest but it's basically 1.0005 with multiplayer fixes so either way doesn't matter).:. This is all I recommend for a first playthrough of SoC: I don't recommend the Complete mod for first time, it changes the game balance/design. you will regret not doing so if you jump straight into the mods ( overhauls ).
so please do yourself a favor and play it vanilla ( with patches if you want ). its not much of the orginal game because it overhuals it so much.
Imo for your first playthrough go with the vanilla game first, some might say go with the Stalker Complete Mod - which patches some bugs but honestly your hurting yourself not playing the game in vanilla.
